BioXCell: Recombinant Antibodies for Research Application

monoclonal antibody

Employing antibodies in scientific research have opened a wide plethora of application ranging from use in detecting protein or protein form, spatio-temporal distribution of proteins, diagnostic purpose, immunoprecipitation, identifying and sorting cells etc. However, researchers must ensure that antibody used identifies target protein (or protein form) of interest with specificity, sensitivity, and affinity.

Traditional hybridoma method is used to generate monoclonal antibodies. Antibody production relies on successful evoking of immune response. If the antigen undergoes degradation, host will evoke an immune reaction that generates antibody not targeting native form of antigen. However, with the advancement of recombinant technology one could generate antibodies that are more robust and stable. There are multiple advantages of using recombinant antibodies starting from specificity, scalability, batch-to-batch reproducibility, isotype conversion and are animal-free.

Recombinant antibody technology provides an upper hand by enabling researcher to generate antibody that is directed towards a specific stretch of protein sequence in the target. The genetically modified gene is transfected into a host cell to produce antibody of interest thereby ensuring batch-to-batch reproducibility and consistency between lots.

Another advantage is the ability to convert the antibody of interest into different species, isotype, or class by genetically altering the constant domain of the antibody. This will generate different formats of antibody that targets the same antigen since the variable domain is unaltered enabling more flexibility for researchers.

Finally, recombinant antibody production is ethical since it does not rely on animal models and have capability of producing large quantity of antibodies that a researcher is interested in. Due to the non-dependence of animal model, the production of recombinant antibody is much faster than the traditional method.

Bio X Cell as the name suggest excels in antibody research with immense experience working with monoclonal in vivo grade antibodies. They manufacture recombinant monoclonal antibodies targeting both well-known and novel targets that are ultra-pure, containing low endotoxins and are rigorously quality checked. The quality and reliability of BioXcell antibodies ensures researchers understand the intriguing and complex biology they are working with.

Bio X Cell provides ultra-defined and targeted recombinant monoclonal antibodies (RecombiMAbTM Antibodies) that have the same recognition region as that of the traditional clones. However their IgG constant region are genetically altered to mouse or human IgG thereby having low immunogenicity in mouse or humanized mouse models enabling high sensitivity, specificity and reduced off targeted reaction. In addition, Bio X Cells recombinant antibodies are ultra-pure, devoid of carrier protein, stabilizer and preservatives making them ideal for in vivo research thereby accelerating your research.

A yet another application of recombinant antibodies is the use of monoclonal antibodies as biosimilars. Biosimilar antibodies as the name suggest are monoclonal antibodies that have similar structure and function as an approved drug.  Stay tuned to know more about biosimilar antibody, application, advantages, and our products.
